After qualifying with a BDS from The University of Birmingham, and completing her Vocational Training Year in Sheffield, Deborah went on to complete further training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; spending 3 years in major units in Sheffield, Leicester and Nottingham. Whilst in Nottingham, she developed a keen interest in treating patients with dental phobia and anxiety and went on to work within a specialist sedation practice in Chesterfield, whilst undertaking a Master of Medical Science Degree at The University of Sheffield, in Anaesthesia and Sedation; graduating in 1998. After a few years spent in Canada, she returned in 2004 to work in a practice in Sheffield, where she continued to develop her skills, including the treatment of anxious patients and those with special needs. Having always taken a very keen interest in post graduate education, she acted as a Vocational Trainer within the practice for two years and undertook a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education at Sheffield Hallam University. She currently specialises in providing a dental screening and treatment service to patients within care homes and nursing homes, under the “Residential Oral Care in Sheffield” scheme, which she has been a part of since 2004.
